PROFILE
Ms. Meriyani Ezung
I am Meriyani Ezung, a Forestry graduate and a conservation practitioner committed to advancing community-based environmental initiatives and sustainable development in Nagaland.
My academic background in Forestry has shaped my understanding of ecosystems, natural resource management, and the importance of balancing environmental conservation with community needs. Over the years, I have worked closely with grassroots communities, gaining hands-on experience in implementing projects that support both ecological sustainability and local livelihoods.
I have served as a Block Level Field Coordinator with SoCRAN (Society for Climate Resilient Agriculture Initiatives) under FoCUS Nagaland, where I was involved in field-level implementation of climate-resilient agriculture programmes. My role included coordinating with village communities, facilitating project activities, supporting documentation, and liaising with government departments to ensure effective convergence and outreach.
Prior to this, I worked with Runway Nagaland, an initiative supporting indigenous women artisans, where I contributed to sales operations and community engagement. This experience strengthened my understanding of sustainable livelihoods and the role of local enterprises in empowering communities.
I have also completed a certification in Waste Management under the Green Skill Development Programme, which has further enhanced my interest in environmental sustainability and responsible resource management.
Alongside my professional work, I bring strong communication skills, adaptability, and a collaborative approach to every role I undertake. I am passionate about working at the intersection of conservation and community development, and I strive to contribute meaningfully to initiatives that promote environmental awareness, resilience, and sustainable futures.
